Weebly E-Portfolio

For our class, we were required to make an electronic portfolio from weebly.com. This portfolio had to include our educational experiences, skills, hobbies, and pretty much anything about ourselves. Overall, I thought that weebly was a fantastic software to create websites. It was fun and super easy, especially when organizing the material you want to put on your weebly website.

Jumpcut Video Assignment

I had a really great time doing this activity and it's probably the most exciting one we've done all semester. Our class had to create a video commercial through jumpcut.com on an online software that we have learned so far in class. My group and I choose to do our commercial on mnmograph.com, the timeline software. Putting the video clips and music together was kind of challenging but fun nontheless. Jumpcut is a great software and I would definitely use something like this in my future classroom.

Self-Evaluation For Elluminate Presentation

Hi Everyone!!

Overall, I think I did well. I feel that I covered most of the basics of interactive whiteboards and how it could be used in the classroom. The Elluminate software is awesome and it has a lot of great features. There are times when technological problems occur, but it is still awesome how we can all get together and still have good class meetings. I would definitely tell other teachers about this software. I give it a 8 out 10. It is also great that we can view powerpoint presentation together with elluminate and slideshare. I had a lot of fun learning about these softwares and about interactive whiteboards. I can't wait to see how these whiteboards function in class. If you guys want to see my presentation again, it is just below. Tell me how it goes. Feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Story Flick Presentation

Today, my class and I presented on how to use three story flick programs. Of the three, the best one I felt was the picturetrail software. I like it because it was very easy to use and it had a lot of features to help create and online picture book. I would most likely use this program in my class as a differently style, not all the time though, to tell stories in my future class.

WebQuest

Today we presented to our class about the webquest activity we have done. Nanette and I have created a webquest about community helpers in the CNMI. WE had a lot of fun making it and I feel it will be a great thing to use in our future classroom. I would use it mostly to have advanced learners do more work and maybe use it as a reward system for students who try their best. I still haven't decided though. I would also use it for group activities and students will help each other to finish a webquest activity.

Digital Camera Scavenger Hunt

Last week, my class and I did a digital camera scavenger hunt!!! It was a very terriffic activity. I believe this will be a great activity to take with me when I become a teacher. It is engaging and a great way to learn. Student will be able to learn how to take pictures and upload them into computers. This will be a great precursor for students as they learn about computers and cameras and they will eventually learn how to upload pictures into digital presentation projects.

Online Word Processing Software?!!!

I have always been used to using Microsoft Word. It never occurred to me that there were other types of word processing software, especially online that's free. Last week, my partner Nannette and I used this online software called inetword and it was a really great software. We gave it an 9 out of 10. It was very easy to use and there were a lot of features we could use to make great paper and projects for class. I would recommend you all to go to inetword.com and check out the cool online word processing software.

Mnemograph.com

Last week, we visited a site called mnemograph.com. There we were able to access and use a free timeline software. I have to say this software was awesome and very easy to use. I give it an 8 out of 10. I believe I could use this in my future classrooms and have students create timelines of their owns. They could create timlines of events they have done in a day. Then we could create one that we have done in a week and eventually have them create timelines about their lives. This would be a greate special project activity.

Using Blogs in my future classroom.

As I mentioned before, this semester is my first time to ever create a blog. After working on my blog for these past weeks, I've come to realize the many advantages of it. Blogs are just another means of communication. I could create blogs to keeps parents and students updated on school work, activities and events. I could also have students teach students how to create blogs of their own so they can create an online portfolio on the things we do in class just like how we in ED 480 are doing right now. I could also set up appointments with parents if they want to meet and talk about their child's progress. Another thing I could do is set up the blog so I can communicate with other theacher. I could share successful activities and lessons that I have done in my class and maybe they could share some with me as well. Blogs are fairly simple to use and I would gladly use them when I become a teacher.

Flow Chart Applications

In the past week, our class learned how to access and use mind-mapping software online. These flow chart applications included Gliffy, Mind42, Mindmesiter. We were divided into three groups to test out these applications. My group was in charge of using the Mind42 software. I would rate this software a 3 out of 10. It was a pretty difficult program to use. My group were pretty confused on how to use the program. I probably would not use this software in my future classroom. The only advantage to it is that it is free. However, the other softwares, Gliffy and Mindmeister, were really good. They are both free as well but are way easier to operate. I would use these softwares and have children create their own flow charts. I could have children do brainstorming, story mapping, creating maps of places and many more activities.

Welcome Everyone!!!

My name is Keoni DeLeon Guerrero Ichihara. I am currently in ED Tech and learning how to use and incorporate technology in the classroom as an effective teaching strategy. Our class started the semester by getting familiar with emails and how to send assignments to our instructor. It was a pretty simple task for all of us. Today however, we started learning how to created blogs and it is a bit more complicated than email. This is my very first posting ever so I'm pretty excited. It took me a while to get familiar with the functions of "BLOGSPOT" but I'm starting to get the hang of it. By the end of this semester, I am hoping to learn many different ways to incorporate technology into my future teachings and how to make it fun.
